Comedy of Errors-- what's crazier than a comedy with a set of identical twins? A comedy with 2 sets of identical twins! Complete with live music, our signature touring stage, and a full cast of seasoned actors, join The Grassroots Shakespeare company for an evening of raucous slapstick mayhem! 

What makes Grassroots Shakespeare different?

Grassroots Shakespeare is an Original Practice company. This means we do Shakespeare the way that Shakespeare did Shakespeare! 

No director! casting, costuming and staging are all done collaboratively 

No fourth wall! In Shakespeare’s day, such a thing hadn’t been invented yet! Your typical Elizabethan audience would boo the villain and cheer on the hero or even answer questions for the characters! All of the dialogue and action is presented straight to the audience, inviting their response!

Very little rehearsal! In Shakespeare’s day, actors were expected to memorize their individual parts and put on a show within days! This makes our shows more spontaneous with genuine reactions! 

A Grassroots show is an entirely different sort of live theater experience! Be prepared to understand Shakespeare for the first time and you'll see why we've been a Utah favorite for 16 years! 

Come prepared!

All of our shows are performed outside in Utah parks, rain or shine! Don't forget warm clothes and an umbrella in case of rain, or sunscreen and water in case of sunshine. Bring your own chairs or blanket. But more than anything, come prepared to have fun! 

Family Friendly!

Yes, Shakespeare has some naughty jokes here and there-- fun for the adults, will more than likely go over the children's heads. Be advised Romeo & Juliet has suicides and a few death scenes (yes, we're aware it is (likely) the most famous story ever told... We still get complaints from time to time). Comedy of Errors features many beatings... with pool noodles (Sorry, spoiler). We apologize for how hilarious it is and no kids, sorry, you can't have our pool noodles to beat up your siblings with, we need them to wail on our actors all Summer.
